The MFA Writing Program at UNC Greensboro and The Greensboro Review will host a poetry reading by Emilia Phillips on Thursday, February 22nd at 6:00 PM at Scuppernong Books, 304 S. Elm Street. The reading will celebrate the release of Phillips’s latest collection of  poetry, Nonbinary Bird of Paradise. It is free and open to the public and will be followed by a book signing.

Emilia Phillips (they/them/their) is a poet, nonfiction writer, and book reviewer. They are the author of five poetry collections from the University of Akron Press, including Nonbinary Bird of Paradise (forthcoming February 2024) and Embouchure (2021), and four chapbooks. Winner of a 2019 Pushcart Prize and a 2019–2020 NC Arts Council Fellowship, Phillips’s poems, lyric essays, and book reviews appear widely in literary publications including The Adroit Journal, Agni, American Poetry Review, Gulf Coast, The Kenyon Review, New England Review, The New York Times, Ploughshares, and elsewhere. They are an Associate Professor of Creative Writing (Poetry) at UNC Greensboro, where they are core poetry faculty in the MFA in Writing Program and cross-appointed faculty in the Women’s Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program.
