George Singleton

George Singleton has published six collections of short stories (These People Are Us, the Half-Mammals of Dixie, Why Dogs Chase Cars, Drowning in Gruel, Stray Decorum, Between Wrecks); two novels (Novel, Work Shirts for Madmen); and one book on writing advice (Pep Talks, Warnings, and Screeds, illustrated by Daniel Wallace).  His fiction has appeared in the Atlantic Monthly, Harper’s, Oxford American, Playboy,  Georgia Review, The Greensboro Review, Southern Review, Glimmer Train, storySouth, and so on.  Ten of his stories have appeared in the annual New Stories from the South anthology. He currently serves as the John C. Cobb Endowed Chair in the Humanities at Wofford College.
