Alum Spotlight: David Watson

Alum Spotlight: David Watson (PhD) defended his dissertation “Solving the Crime: Searching for Truth in Post-1900 Detective Novels” in October 2019. His thesis will be published in a revised form by Macmillan Palgrave, most likely next year. The tentative title is “Truth to Post-Truth in American Detective Fiction” and it should come out in the first half of 2022.
David recalls of his time at UNCG, “I can’t say enough about how supportive my committee was while I was writing my dissertation as well as in my attempts to navigate the publishing world. Dr. Moraru, in particular, reached out to me and made sure I finished this degree when I thought it might not be possible. My support at UNCG was not only academic but personal. The English Department at UNCG was a wonderful place to explore ideas. “
