The Humanities Against Hunger
Posted on October 12, 2022
College hunger is a hidden problem. According to Spartan Open Pantry, 34.9% of UNCG students are food insecure, and 50% of UNCG students worry about paying their basic bills, and around the holidays these insecurities are multiplied.
The English Department is partnering with the other Departments in MHRA to host a food drive that will run from the first of October through the fifteenth of November.
We will be placing a box for donations in our main office and placing signs around the department so it’s easy to find. We will also promote the food drive on our social media channels, email lists, and other outlets. We have made a large banner for the drive and placed it in the lobby of MHRA. Please consider announcing this drive to your classes and helping to make this a success.
A flyer with the SOP’s current needs is attached as is an image of the banner. (FYI Spartan Pantry also accepts personal care products.)
If you’d like to volunteer at SOP, more information can be found
here.
We hope you will join us in fighting this hidden problem.
