Jen Julian

Jen Julian is a writer, artist, and transient North Carolinian. She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and an MFA in Fiction from UNC Greensboro. Currently, she is the Fiction Writer-in-Residence at Allegheny College. Her first short story collection, Earthly Delights and Other Apocalypses, is coming out through Press 53 in October 2018, and her most recent fiction and essays have appeared or are upcoming in TriQuarterly, Beecher’s Magazine, The Greensboro Review, The Chattahoochee Review and Cleaver. She is a 2016 Clarion alumna and an enthusiast for all things strange and speculative.

This collection will take the top of your head off. Anglerfish. Sex Robots. Sensatones and stereograms. Time travel and Kairotic displacement disorder. Julian’s fiction has it all: the relevance of realism, the imaginative leaps of fabulism, the philosophical depth of S/F. These stories did more than entertain me—they actually changed my mind.
