2014 saw what was probably the George Herbert event, ever.

Garden Party at Bishop’s Palace, Salisbury
The George Herbert Festival, co-organized by GHS member Canon Judy Rees, met from July 10-13 on Herbert’s home ground in Salisbury and Bemerton, featuring Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury and Master of Magdelene College Cambridge, Sir Andrew Motion, former English Poet Laureate, Gillian Clarke, National Poet of Wales, renowned Herbert editor Helen Wilcox, and Herbert biographer John Drury—along with a rich array of readings, concerts, workshops, exhibits, banquets, and garden parties. The crowds poured in—the organizers sold more than 2000 tickets—and the British broadcast media took notice.
