Addison Hutchins (BA ’18)

As a digital communications specialist, I use my English degree in my work every day! I graduated from UNC
Greensboro in 2018 with a BA in English. Immediately after graduation, I started a marketing and communications
internship with Cone Health. I discovered this internship through the fantastic Campus Greensboro program and my
internship became the full-time job I have today.

At Cone Health, I help manage patient-facing social media channels and digital wellness content production. My
English degree prepared me perfectly for this work. I use rhetorical analysis and critical thinking to design audience-
focused messaging and content strategy. Everything I learned about writing and storytelling helps me create
engaging social media copy, health-focused articles, and digital wellness videos. But most importantly, my English
studies helped me strengthen my creative and analytical abilities, both of which go hand-in-hand with many types of
marketing and communications work. I am so thankful for my English degree from UNC Greensboro – it gave me all
the tools I needed to jump right into my career!
